It’s mid June and that sweaty, sticky summer heatwave is just a dream at this point. Today it’s highs of 16 degrees and scattered showers! It’s Alison & James’ big day in the gorgeous Leicestershire village of Medbourne.
I met these guys a couple of years ago and I’ve been waiting this one for a long long while!!! Always love a Tipi wedding!! Even if its pouring down what’s not to like about being outside in the countryside with all that fresh air! Beat’s a sweltering hot reception room any day!
Prep starts in a stunning cottage in the village of Caldecott. Alison, the bridesmaids, flower girls and parents are all getting ready here so there’s plenty of action to follow during the busy few hours here!
After a few busy hours of prep it’s off to Medbourne to St Giles’ Church for the ceremony. As I arrive the skies clear and the sun makes it’s first appearance of the day. James and the groomsmen arrive shortly after so there’s time for few quick snaps before they hide inside the church and await the arrival of the bridal party!
The bridal party arrives but are hunted down by the church verger who tells us all to wait outside as the Vicar hasn’t turned up yet! He’s got stuck at the previous wedding he was doing earlier!!! If there’s one thing that could happen on a wedding day, the vicar being late would not be one I’d choose! After a 15 minute wait outside church, Father Latey McLateface makes his appearance and the ceremony can finally begin! Not before he’s stuck me in a dark corner and told me not to move!
Always worth mentioning to those who are having a church wedding - The vicar can scupper any photos of your entrance, ceremony, exit because some of them don’t like photographers and put us in one position which most probably has a very poor view of the goings on! Unfortunately some Vicars are very unwelcoming and don’t care about your photos. Once I even had a gaggle of vergers following me round the church, watching my every move for over an hour! …. While I’d like to take the best pictures possible unfortunately it’s somewhat out of my control!!!!
Anyhow back to the wedding - After a rather error strewn performance from his royal lateness, the Vicar of lateby, Alison and James emerged from a wonderful ceremony to beautiful sunshine. We took a walk through the village of Medbourne before we headed off to the Tipi Reception for some couple shots and wow it’s a stunning place!
All the guests make the short hop up the road to the ‘Rural Relaxing’ site and we’re greeted by rolling fields and a stunning site for the tipi. Guests mingle in the sunshine before they all head up to the tipi for for the wedding breakfast!
Once the speeches are finished along with a rather heavy downpour, we head BACK into Medbourne for some gorgeous late evening photos.
Alison and James’ stunning day is brought to an end with a spectacular sparkler send off
